   Pinecrest History

Pinecrest was incorporated as Miami-Dade County's 29th municipality on March 12, 1996. The village incorporated because residents  wanted more accountability and services for the tax dollars being paid to unincorporated Miami-Dade County government.  Of particular interest to the incorporators of the Village was heightened police protection, and control over its own building and zoning decisions to preserve the low density of the community.  The incorporation resulted from the grass roots efforts of its residents.
